One thing I was really hoping to see whilst in New Zealand was Mount Cook. Unfortunately, the day we had planned to visit Mount Cook village a storm came in which put our plans on hold.
Luckily for us, during an early morning walk near Fox Glacier the sky was so clear we were able to see it … twice! Seeing New Zealand’s highest peak reflected in the stunning Lake Matheson made it that little bit more special (Mt Tasman to the left, Mt Cook far right).
It was such an atmospheric morning, the mist was low and the frost covered the ground like a layer of icing sugar.
The incredible Fox Glacier from afar…
…and up close.
Luke treated me to a Mairo inspired photo shoot.
Next stop Franz Josef glacier.
The walk up to Franz Josef glacier is much more dramatic than Fox. The landscape seems Jurassic and is strikingly beautiful the whole way up.
Today was one of my favourites, full of mother nature’s incredible creations, fresh alpine air and good chats. What more could a girl want?
