On our way South, we stumbled across this beach which absolutely blew our minds. The colour contrast was unbelievable. We sat fascinated.
As we were heading towards Napier it was my job to navigate us to a free campsite I’d found just outside of town. For anybody who knows me or has even met me in passing, you have probably noticed that I don’t exactly scream ‘navigator’ but I was giving it a good go. Long story short, 50km isn’t ‘just outside’ of Napier apparently so we were a little stuck after realising this half way there.
We decided to make lunch in our little camper van, go out for a walk and figure out where we would sleep later.
I’ve ditched my heels for hiking boots! Who would have thought it. Don’t worry though I’ll be back in heels as soon as we touchdown in Heathrow, I’m not a totally changed woman.
As fate would have it, we found the most amazing little campsite overlooking the ocean. The drive to get here was up and over valley after valley so it felt like a real treasure when we finally found it.
Waking up here and wondering down to the beach was the perfect way to start the day. Some times it works to mess up plan A.
We eventually arrived in Napier, a town which was badly hit by an earthquake in 1931 and was rebuilt in the style of that time; Art Deco.
