Wiggy goes Walkabout

Wiggy goes Walkabout

Wiggy has arrived in Melbourne and we can’t wait for a week of sarcasm. We really can’t. We met, grabbed a pie and set off on our road trip to Sydney.

Our first night was spent at Lakes Entrance, a cute little town although I think we were the only people there under 40 (only just 😉 the local RSL was packed full of pensioners taking full advantage of the $15 chicken parmas.

What I love about road trips is being able to pull up anywhere you fancy and wandering aimlessly.

Our second night was so much fun, we ended up in a little fishing town called Mallacoota where we found a ramshackle pub with a faulty till – $3.50 bottles of Moscato = winner. Later we cooked up a Thai curry in our rookedy cabin and cwtched up to watch the Graham Norton Show. The boys decided to go for a walk when I discovered a Sex And The City marathon on another channel.

On day three we found ourselves a beautiful luxury holiday home right by the ocean. We arrived before midday so had almost all day to relax and enjoy it over a bottle of bubbly, a box of wine and a good old fashioned barbie.

We headed to a place called Pebbly Beach, known for its friendly kangaroos which graze on the grassy patches between the sand.

I promise you this isn’t photoshopped, Wiggy is genuinely photo bombing this kangaroo. Probably the best photo Luke has ever taken.

Our last night was spent in Huskisson, another seaside town where we indulged in yet more bubbly and giant oysters to send Wiggy on his way.

  • Oh you guys! I’m so jealous and the reverse of home-sick. I want to be there with you on those shores, soaking up sunshine and drinking cheap bubbly. Love, love, love. Xxx

  • We also stopped at Lakes Entrance, and went to the RSL. We spend time on every visit going to the RSL in Moe and Morwell. Aunty Joan always took us there for a meal and to play the ‘pokies’. We think the RSL (Returned Services League) is similar to our Royal British Legion.
